Pet Transport in El Albir and l'Alfàs del Pi — Door-to-Door Pickup

Hatchi's white branded van with a husky looking out of the passenger window

At the foot of the Serra Gelada, between Benidorm and Altea, l'Alfàs del Pi (Alfaz del Pi) has about 21,000 residents spread between the village, the beach at El Albir and many urbanisations of detached houses. It's one of the places on the whole coast with the most Nordic residents, Norwegians above all. Hatchi takes your pet door to door in a van reserved for your family alone: to the vet, the groomer, the boarding kennel or the airport terminal.

Life here moves at three speeds: the village centre, seafront life in El Albir and the urbanisations climbing towards the mountain, such as Escandinavia, Barranco Hondo, Foia Blanca, La Capitana, Residence Park or El Tossalet. The Norwegian community has had its own club for half a century, a church in El Albir, schools and care homes, and many residents spend part of the year up north. You can see it in what people need: retired residents who no longer drive and need to take the dog to its check-up, cats going to a boarding cattery while the family is away for a few weeks, or pets coming home from the groomer while their owners work in Benidorm.

The by-law for El Albir beach doesn't allow pets on the sand or in the bathing area, although you can walk with them along the promenade. For off-lead running, the town hall has opened several fenced dog parks, with two-level drinking fountains and bag dispensers, including those on Calle Tritó, in the Jardín de Alfaz urbanisation and in Barranco Hondo, next to the Fòrum building. The nearest official dog beach is L'Olla, just over the boundary in Altea, a few minutes away. And if you prefer the hills, there's the path to the Albir lighthouse inside the Serra Gelada natural park, where dogs must always be on a lead.

For emergencies you're in luck: AniCura Marina Baixa, on the Passeig de la Mitja Llegua, is open day and night and is a kilometre from the centre. If it happens at night, go straight there; from 8:00 to 20:00 we cover the trips home and the follow-up visits. To La Nucia, Polop or Altea the trips take a few minutes. Alicante-Elche airport is about 63 km away, around fifty minutes by road, and our Alicante base about 50 km. If you're coming to spend the winter with your pet, we can meet you at arrivals and drive you, your pet and your luggage straight to the villa.

Private trip: only your family's pets travel. We never share the van with pets from other families or combine bookings from different customers. And if you like, you come too.

Going home to Norway or the UK with your dog?

For Norway your dog needs a microchip, an EU pet passport, a valid rabies vaccination and a tapeworm treatment given by a vet between one full day and 5 days before you arrive. We explain the official rules, with links to Mattilsynet and gov.uk, in our guide to taking your dog back to the UK or Norway. We can take you to the vet for the treatment and then to the terminal.

Frequently asked questions

How much does pet transport from El Albir cost?

It depends on the route and the destination. Message us on WhatsApp at +34 633 14 36 49 and we'll send you a no-obligation quote. We reply every day from 8:00 to 20:00.

Do you pick up in the urbanisations up the mountain?

Yes, in any of them within the municipality: Escandinavia, Foia Blanca, La Capitana, El Tossalet and the rest. Send us your location on WhatsApp if the street is hard to find and we'll get to the door of your house.

Can you take my dog to a boarding kennel if we go to Norway for a few weeks?

Of course. We collect your dog at home the day before you leave, drop them at the kennel you choose and, when you come back, collect them there and bring them home. We let you know at every handover.

How long does it take from l'Alfàs to Alicante-Elche airport?

About fifty minutes without traffic, a little more in summer. We take you and your pet to departures or wait for you at arrivals, and your pet travels in a van that isn't shared with pets from other families.

Can my dog go on El Albir beach?

Not on the sand or in the bathing area, according to the beach by-law, but you can walk along the promenade with your dog. The nearest official dog beach is L'Olla, in Altea, and we can take you there and pick you up.
